3 Reasons for Hiring a Drywall Contractor for a Small Project

We love small jobs here at McEvoy Spackling and Taping.  But some of our customers wonder if their job is too small for hiring a drywall contractor. Here are 3 reasons why it’s a good idea to hire a professional drywall installer/finisher for a small project.

Hiring a Drywall Contractor Is Cost-Effective

We’re good at wall and ceiling repair. We’ve got many years of experience. That makes our services valuable, mainly because we know how to get the job done fast without sacrificing quality.

For example, we recently worked for a customer who asked us to fix a small hole in her ceiling. Her husband had fixed a similar hole the month before. It took him five separate coats and the better part of a weekend. It took us an hour and a half (not counting drying time). In this case, hiring a drywall contractor was less expensive than letting her husband doing the job, if only because of how much time he lost.

Hiring a Drywall Contractor Results in a High-Quality Job

Here’s another reason hiring a drywall contractor is a good idea: quality. That ceiling repair the husband did was less than stellar. No offense to him — I’m sure he’s excellent at what he does for a living. But unless you practice drywall installation and drywall finishing day in and day out for years, you just can’t develop the physical motions that lead to a smooth, blemish-free job. Sadly, after all his effort, you could clearly see his repair job through the paint.

Control the Mess by Hiring a Drywall Contractor

A professional drywall contractor (1) does the job cleanly and quickly, (2) covers the area to prepare for the inevitable mess and (3) uses a vacuum sander for dustless sanding. Avoiding a huge mess is reason enough to hire a drywall contractor instead of doing it yourself. (That poor woman was still finding dust in her house a full month after her husband finished the ceiling repair!)

All that being said, we know sometimes people like to try things for themselves. That’s okay. If it all goes south, just give us a call and we’ll get your project back on track.
